Humiliated by a Gopher.

Image
Since I began blogging in 2009, I have had photo envy of Carol at  Reflection's Flora and Fauna  .  I love the way she catches wild life.  I have been trying so hard to catch an animal, bird, insect, or reptile in a nice pose or at least a realistic pose instead of a blur. This last weekend I had my chance, or so I thought at a picnic the family went on at a local park in California. My son in law, called my granddaughters attention to the fact there was a gopher digging next to us.  In a few minutes it was evident he was coming up. I grabbed my camera and rushed to stand near enough ( I am terrible with zoom coming out clear) so I could catch a shot of him as he emerged.  There I stood, camera aim... so I thought, first picture was of grass, second was of freshly dug grass. Then!  I caught a shot as he emerged.  I clicked 3 more times but only got him once as he paused to look at me considering what I was doing. The quick as a flash h...

CreativeGene Carnival, 122nd Edition "School Humor"

Image
For the CreativeGene Carnival 122nd Edition "School Humor" I can not remember any humor in my school days, but I have a funny related to my daughter in High School. My Hero was member of the Optimist Club.  We had gone to a community class on how to involved the school kids in fighting drugs.  The Optimist Club sponsored at C.H.I.C.K.E.N. Club who's motto was 'Just Say No'. The name stood for  C.H.I.C.K.E.N stands for " C ool  H onest  I ntelligent  C lear-headed  K een  E nergetic and  N ot interested in drugs!"   They had a Chicken Costume for a mascot to wear at rallies and activities.  It was kept in my office.  I was the school nurse, and my oldest daughter was the vice-president of the club in her sophomore year.   Her boy friend went to a different high school, 30 minutes away.  He was also a senior and had privileges of getting out early, etc.. One afternoon, thirty minute...

Fun Musings

Image
I am excited about the up coming movie called "Brave" .  For our family, it is so like our own Crystal and RedBeard.  I have sat and laughed while watching the trailer because I have seen our Redbeard in similar actions.  And Merida, well, they had to have been hiding somewhere and used my granddaughter as a model.  She is the spitting attitude of Merida, not to mention look a like.  Look at my scrapbook page and tell me if you don't agree. This promises to be a fun summer.

It All Started With Bubbles

Image
If you have ever worked in a toddler nursery, you know one way to capture the attention of a little one is to get the bubbles out and blow bubbles for them.  They are fascinated.  (Clip art from Fotosearch) On the second day, after I arrived at my daughter's home, my granddaughter wanted to go outside and blow bubbles.   We did.  She had so much fun chasing them around and trying to stomp on them.  There was one that was so pretty and I wanted to catch a picture of it just resting peacefully on the grass stem when, WHAM!...the little foot came down and with a peal of laughter she was off to catch another bubble.  We were both fascinated with the one that rose gently and gracefully into the sky and passed over the house until we couldn't see it anymore.  What a fun memory it is to have. That day was also the day she discovered that my screen saver on my computer is bubbles.  It fascinated her.  She will come into my room with a swe...

Slow Start Riotous Finish

Image
I started my day out.  Feet propped up, computer in lap, watching Conference and working on Family History.  I love doing that.  No one around.  Then in comes the youngest son and announces that we are going to his sister's house.  I was slow to respond.  I could tell he was disappointed so I said..."Okay let's go".  We ended up taking my grandson with us (this is the son of another daughter).  His eyes sparkled in anticipation of playing with JT. When we arrived, there was a wonderful smell in the air.  She had baked rolls and made spagetti and a wonderful cherry cobbler.  The son looked at his mom and said "see why I wanted to come."  I was laughing.  He was right, I have not been cooking for a month.  Life is chaotic at my house with all the extra family, I get home at 7pm, do my mission until 11pm...I stay tired.  I had not realized how it was affecting him though.  Guess, I will have to start doing some coo...
